Supporting our Members in their academic endeavors through the many stages of their education is at the forefront of our Education Department and is especially important for aboriginal students as they represent a smaller number of students attending school, particularly in post-secondary institutions.
Nationally, only 62% of Indigenous adults graduated from high school, compared to 78% of the general population, and, only 39% of First Nations peoples living on-reserve graduated from high school. (peopleforeducation.ca)
Attending school exposes students to new experiences and opportunities to learn important life skills and to develop confidence and resilience.
